PROJECTS

Reno Technology Park

UIG was formed in Nevada in 2011 to develop the Reno Technology Park (RTP), a 2,200-acre enterprise data center campus situated directly astride the I-80 fiber network corridor connecting NY, Chicago and San Francisco. The Company had taken a greenfield site and, focusing on the special connectivity, power and resource needs of these unique facilities, developed the RTP to include over 3 million square feet of data center and supporting operations, the largest private water system in the State of Nevada, and, in cooperation with a Sumitomo-led partnership, a 60 MW PV solar power generating operation that will provide much valued renewable energy to the data centers on site.
Apple selected the RTP in 2012 as the location for its western US data center operations and the campus, at the time, was the largest in the company’s portfolio, projected to be well over $2 billion in capital investment. Apple continues to expand at the RTP and worked with UIG to open additional technical facilities in downtown Reno.

UIG developed all of the on-site infrastructure at the RTP, to include the special fiber connectivity required by these facilities. The company has worked with AT&T, Level 3, Zayo and other major system providers to install redundant, low latency networks connecting the RTP to all of the major western urban centers, to include the first direct high capacity network linking Reno to Los Angeles.

In 2017, Apple opted to purchase all of the RTP from UIG.

Subsea Cable System

UIG is currently working with TPN Cayman Operating Co, LLC on a subsea cable system project. So far, we have invested significant resources to validate the project concept, to include rigorous engineering and technical assessments as well as market demand and pricing evaluations, and have formulated and executed a strategic plan to bring the world’s leading companies investing in submarine cable assets  to build and own the system.
